We all change (Percy Jackson fanfic) - Chapter I (2024)

(3rd person)
Artemis sighed as she looked at herself in the mirror of her tent. She was in her eighteen year old form and was wearing a beautiful, flowing silver dress with silver sandals similar to the ones worn by gladiators.

On her neck she wore a simple silver necklace in the shape of a crescent moon and matching silver earrings on her ears. Her curly auburn hair flowed over her left shoulder and down her back. She wore no make up. She knew that she looked beautiful, she was a goddess after all, but she didn't care about her looks like Aphrodite her looks were natural.

She didn't even want to attend this party, but her father had told her that it was incredibly important that she went. And she had to go with a man. Even worse was the fact that the man she had to go with was none other than Perseus, son of Poseidon, minor God of Tides, Heroes and swordsmanship and was well known for acting like the typical play-boy male that Artemis despised after the break up with Annabeth.

She wondered why she couldn't go by herself or with another son of Poseidon, Triton perhaps, who was quiet, respectful, and would not say a word to her in fear of his own safety. If she had to go with someone, then why couldn't it have been the one of the few she thought were decent instead of the filthy, disgusting animal.

But her father had made it clear that, despite all her protests (and arrows), she had to attend the party with the youngest son of Poseidon. She had been prepared to threaten her father that she would fade, when he had offered her a deal.

He had told her that if she attended this one party with Perseus, then he would arrange for some extra protection for her Hunters. She knew that she needed extra protection as her hunters had come across a large group of monsters recently and most were currently injured or bruised. She sighed again. 'It couldn't be that bad right?'

A few minutes later her Lieutenant, Thalia Grace daughter of Zeus, knocked on her tent. Thalia was one of the least injured, with only a sprained ankle and a deep cut on her left upper thigh. "Lady Artemis, Percy's here," she called with a smile.

Thalia had a pretty good relationship with Perseus, she considered him a brother and was very good friends with him. Artemis wasn't too happy about that but had decided to allow it, since he did save her from Atlas that time and they had grown pretty use to him visiting. "I'll be right out!" Artemis shouted back.

She took a deep breathe and exited her tent and walked towards the Hunters who were crowded around something. As she approached, they moved out of her way, bowing and finally letting her see what they had been staring at. Before her, was a magnificent sea green chariot, studded with small emeralds and sapphires, all glinting in the shape of different sea animals.

It was drawn by four black pegasi which was odd as I had never seen that many black pegasus in the same place at once. Leaning against the side of the chariot, was a boy. He appeared to be around eighteen years old. He had silky, black, windswept hair that gently fell over his eyes, perfectly tanned skin, high cheekbones and that charming trouble-maker smirk he was known for.

He wore a shiny black tux with a black dress shirt and a silver tie. He had polished, black shoes with silver laces. But his best features were his eyes. They were a beautiful shade of sea green with flecks of ice blue and silver, turning them into whirlpools that sucked you in with one look at them.

But Artemis knew not to fall for those charming looks. She knew exactly what kind of a male he was. He would take you in, pretend to actually care for you, and then, he would leave you without a second glance. So no, Artemis would not be fooled by his man.

She knew exactly who she was dealing with. Putting on a mask of cold indifference, she walked up to him with her head held high, making sure to put a respectable amount of space between her and him.
