Earlier this month we hosted a charity fundraising event at our office in Tacoma, WA. The Portholes to the Future event was a huge success and it raised over $100,000 for the Tacoma Sunrise Rotary Club! Attendees at the event enjoyed: 9 holes of putt putt golf, axe throwing, giant Jenga, corn hole, pinball games, wine bottle ring toss, a coffee bar, wine bar, a robotics exhibit by SOTA, a Tacoma Arts High School, Raffle baskets, Food Trucks, and live music!The Tacoma Sunrise Rotary Club supports these awesome organizations/ programs: Palmer Scholars:This organization exists to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity for young adults of color in Pierce County.Elements of Education:This is the non-profit arm that supports innovation at SOTA, SAMI and IDEA—three Tacoma public high schools serving more than 1,700 students. International Programs:The club is also involved in two major international programs serving youth and women in Africa. We partner with Rotary clubs in Namibia to support an educational program that provides educational technology and laptops to many classrooms. In Uganda, we support economic development for women through farming with COFIA - Circle of Friends in Action (COFIA).
