"Rock'n'Roll Star!" ripercorre il percorso di Bowie verso Ziggy Stardust. Dai primi demo casalinghi, alle sessioni radiofoniche e alle esibizioni dal vivo, fino alle registrazioni di sessione, agli outtakes e alle versioni alternative delle registrazioni per l'album ''The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust''. Il cofanetto contiene 29 brani inediti, tra cui i primi demo, le registrazioni della band di David The Arnold Corns, le prove nella vecchia casa di Bowie, Haddon Hall, le sessioni della BBC, i singoli, le esibizioni dal vivo, gli outtakes e le versioni alternative delle sessioni di registrazione dell'album originale, remixate dal produttore dell'album Ken Scott. Tra gli inediti spiccano una versione alternativa di "Lady Stardust", una versione inedita del classico dei Deep Cut "Shadow Man" e una registrazione up-tempo di "I Can't Explain" degli Who, che in seguito Bowie rallentò e coverizzò per l'album Pin-Ups. Il Blu-ray audio contiene la rimasterizzazione definitiva dell'album originale Ziggy Stardust del 2012 in 96kHz/24bit PCM Stereo, l'album e i mix aggiuntivi del 2003 in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, più i singoli, le outtakes e le versioni alternative in 96kHz/24bit PCM Stereo. Il Blu-Ray include anche una versione dell'album Ziggy Stardust intitolata ''Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth)'', tratta dai nastri degli studi Trident del 15 dicembre 1971 e contenente un ordine alternativo e quattro canzoni che non sono state inserite nell'album finale. Imprescindibili anche idue libri presenti. Il primo di 112 pagine con note di copertina dettagliate, cimeli, recensioni e articoli contemporanei, rare fotografie di Barrie Wentzel, Michael Putland, Mick Rock, Sukita e Alec Byrne, oltre a nuovissime note e interviste con Ken Scott, Mark Carr Pritchett e la collega di David dell'epoca, Anya Wilson. Ad accompagnare il libro principale c'è una riproduzione compilata di 36 pagine dei taccuini personali di David dell'era Ziggy Stardust.
